My Two Beauty Favorites of 2009

There's two things I can never leave the house without. I'm in love with bronzer. It's nothing like the glow it gives you. I never leave the house without my Nars bronzer. I use the Casino shade, which is basically a brown with a little shimmer. It's about $30, but it's definitely a great investment. You can find it on or Sephora.

Then there's my new favorite mascara as of 2009. Covergirl Lashblast is a great steal and it is way cheaper than Mac. It does a better job than Mac if you ask me. It's on average about $7.00.

Best Person to Follow On Twitter 2009

Follow @myfabolouslife if you are not already. Sometimes he's too busy to tweet, but when he isn't he is definitely entertaining.

Best Music Video 2009

"I Invented Sex" by Trey Songz definitely deserves this. There's no need to go into details about why.

2009 Best Song

Slow Dance by Keri Hilson definitely gets this. I don't know anyone who dislikes this song.

2009 Best New Artist

What makes the Best New Artist? In this case, it would have to be genuine talent. A lot of stars are overrated when it comes to their music ability, while some of the people with the most talent aren't given half the props they deserve. Well, that's not the case for Melanie Fiona. She deserves this title in every way possible. She's created a huge fan base because she deserved it. She has an amazing voice and not only does she sing, but she also writes. I couldn't possibly think of anyone better for this title. The funniest thing about this is that she actually performed during "HU Yardfest" and no one knew who she was. A few weeks later everyone had "It Kills Me" on repeat. Congratulations Melanie Fiona you are my 2009 Best New Artist. Everyone go grab your copy of "The Bridge". It's a nice break from the lack of talent we have experienced this year.

Kapow! Style Star 2009

Okay, so I know your expecting for me to give Rihanna this title, but I can't. I mean I obviously love Rihanna's stlye, but she doesn't win it all around for me. I'm thinking more along the lines of a Nickolodeon star. Okay I'm not going to do the guessing game because you already see the pictures.

Keke Palmer is amazing. She's only sixteen and if you looked at her resume you would see things like: singer, actress, executive producer of her own show, and fashion line. Some critics tend to believe she dresses a little old, but they don't understand it's in the water. lol I believe she carries herself as a young lady and if you watch her interviews you can't deny her innocence. She's not little Akeelah anymore, but she stays within the lines of her age. I love her. She's ultra classy and that's why she is the Style Star 2009.

2010 Get It In

{First I have to say the title of this post comes from Bernard "Smooth Luciano" Tyler. He is like the big brother I never had.}

I'm sure everyone is making resolutions, which is fine and all, but they rarely are accomplished. I don't have no need to set out resolutions, but there are definitely changes I would like to make. I personally don't want to delete anyone out of my life. I feel like all the individuals in my life serve a purpose, whether they bring joy to my life or help make me a stronger person. I wouldn't trade them for the world. It's just a few things that would make life much more easier, so I'm going to try and embrace these two things.

"Sometimes the best way to see a person is to not look at them" - Hov
Now I posted this on the blog some time back and I just want to take a moment to reflect on this. Instead of deleting people out of my life I will just not look at them. I won't interact or do the little things that kept the relationship somewhat alive. I'm just going to live my life and while not looking at them notice what they are contributing. This is the best way to decide who is important and who isn't. There's no need to be mean or nasty about it.

Then there's this convo between Bruce Jenner & Kim Kardashian that sparked a flame in my soul. It was like an epiphany. He was comforting her about the whole Reggie break up and he said she needed to be selfish right now. Instantly Deedz and I looked at each other. This was the answer to all of our problems. We are young and while we have much to offer, we still have much to achieve. Instead of pouring so much of ourselves into other people we need to keep it to ourselves. It's our time to be selfish with our time, love, career, and education. There are so many things we could be doing instead of playing this endless cycle with members of the opposite sex, so this year I want to embrace the "SELFISH LIFESTYLE."

I'm looking forward to 2010 and all it has to offer, but I'm not going to make this long ridiculous list of resolutions. I'm just going to set goals in my mind and achieve them. If people notice, that's nice, but I don't do it for them I do it for me.

Can You Run It??

If your not a big fan feel free to skip to about 3:45. He really tried to play it off. This had me laughing too hard.

I'm Feeling The VIBE

So Vibe has been out of commission for a while now, but they definitely know how to make a come back. Vibe has reloaded and they definitely did it well. I am in utter amazement of the classiness of this photo shoot. I was thinking they would have her half naked as most urban magazines; however, this shoot was quite the opposite. This girl definitely looks like the Ford Model she is. I love it and I hope you all enjoy it too.

Check out the trailer, then go pick up a copy of this issue of Vibe and show them support. I'm glad to have Vibe back.

The Unexpected

I felt like posting something that you guys would not expect to run into on here. I hope you all enjoy it.

Lanvin Spring 2010

There are a million quotes that I could type into this post, but I don't feel the need to. Fashion at its finest is an art. I am obsessed with checking out the latest ad campaigns, so when I was doing my research I stumbled over the Lanvin Spring 2010 ad campaign.

Fashion never ceases to amaze me.

Change Comes With Age

I did one post on the Rihanna and Chris Brown incident. I vowed to never do another, but this post isn't necessarily about that. It's about Rihanna. There are so many Rihanna haters. I honestly do not understand why they hate her. Some feel like she is corny for talking about the incident now that the hype was over, others feel like she is pretending to be something that she isn't, and others believe that she is trying to ruin Chris Brown. I dare not to comment on ignorance about the whole incident. If she was your sister you would not be making up excuses for him to beat her the way he did. I just want to address the whole situation of her not being herself.

I think it is important that we realize that Rihanna is only 21. Her first album, "Music of The Sun" came out when she was only 17. In the years between 17 and 21 we change a lot. I am only 19, but I am definitely not the same person. Rihanna's transformation was more dramatic than the average teenager; however, she was not living the average teenager's life. She never got to graduate from high school. She was too busy being a big star. If you look at her album covers you can see that this transformation did not occur over night. As she matured, so did her style.

It's not abnormal for a girl want to change her style up after a bad break up either. Think about the last time you had a bad break up. Did you not want a change? Did you not feel the urge to go shopping and look different? I think we look at her as some superstar, but we fail to realize she is a girl who is still young and trying to find herself. Its not only her style that has changed, but also the her personality. I mean she used to be a sweet little girl from the islands and now she is a complete bad ass. You have to realize that when she came out she was a girl and now she is grown, so she is allowed to express herself in ways that weren't possible before. No one complained about Bow Wow talking about Puppy Love then talking about Poles In His Basement. I personally loved the GQ shoot, but that wasn't the first time the girl did a topless shoot.

Then its the whole stylist thing right. She didn't transform on her own, so its not real. I hate that. Every celebrity uses a stylist in case you didn't know. Mariel Haenn does a great job with Rihanna and I can't deny it. However, I do know that a stylist guides the artist. They go to stores and take pulls, but the artist actually has the choice of whether or not they want to wear it. Oh you didn't know that, well now you do. Rihanna lives a more glamorous life than the average person, so it is only right that her transformation reflects that.

Yes, she isn't the girl she was when she first came out. She has seen the world and has the most number one singles this decade. She has survived domestic abuse. She knows most of her idols on a first name basis. You couldn't possibly expect her not to change. Not only has her own style changed, but so has her attitude. She sounds more confident. She definitely has some good things to say.If you listen to her interviews you will see growth and I think that's more important than anything.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I love Rihanna and you may hate her, but this is my blog, so I can speak upon how wonderful she is. I love her style, music, and personality. If she went to Howard she would be a {HU}nny.

Gorgeous Would Be An Understatement

I don't think I need to say anything. The Greece cover says a million words.

She Pitches With Grenades

So, I'm seeing a lot of hate, but honestly she could care less what you think. I love it. Sheesh, she wasn't playing when she named the albums, Good Girl Gone Bad and Rated R.

"Peace,Love & Life"

The End??

So, you know that guy I'm always blogging about? He's definitely not talking to me. We decided to just be friends for now and then I did something stupid(yup I messed up). I made a mistake and I feel horrible about it. I apologized and everything, but he still hasn't spoken to me. I hate it. I can lose him as a lover, but a friend? That's a whole different chapter in the book. My male friends are telling me that he's just angry and needs time and space. I just wish he would let me know something. I'm a little upset, but not crushed like I was a few days ago. I really care about him, so time he gets. "I GOTTA GIVE HIM HIS TIME TO SERVE, SO HE CAN BE ALL HE CAN BE LIKE THE RESERVES." He might fumble over this, so yeah when your ready you can text me. Don't worry I accept the punishment. Just don't hate me forever.

How It All Went Down......

As we all know December 4, 2009 was Jay-Z's 40th birthday party. Me, being an enthusiastic fan even threw a function at my house to honor what many believe should be a holiday. I finally found the details about what he did to celebrate this illustrious occasion. I am definitely pleased.

Beyonce' wanted to make sure the party was perfect for her husband, so she planned the whole thing. It took place at Campo de Casa, a wonderful resort in the Dominican Republic. It wasn't his biggest party, but it definitely included all the people he loves and holds dear to his heart.Beyonce wanted the party to be elegant, so she requested that everyone wore 1920's or 1940's attire. During dinner videos played of some of Hov's closest friends telling him how much they loved and appreciated him. After dinner there was a synchronized swim team and fireworks show. Finally, the party started and Hov danced all night long and if that wasn't enough Beyonce had one more thing under her sleeve. Saturday morning Beyonce held a lobster and steak brunch at their villa for all of their guests.

I love it. Beyonce made sure her man was happy and when you love someone that's definitely what it is all about. I always wanted to throw my boyfriend a huge party, but first I have to find a boyfriend. lol

A Special Dedication

This is for my love, Dede who is always there to listen. She was my roomate my freshman year & will be a life long friend. I love her so much. She's been there for me through so much. I know she loves this song, so I want to dedicate this song to her. I hope she loves it. If you are interested in learning more about this wonderful individual follow her on twitter HERE and while your at it check out her BLOG.

Baby Lemme Style You....

I always wanted a pair of thigh-high's, but I am entirely too short to wear these. I have some tall friends and I don't understand why they don't wear them. I mean yes if you wear them the wrong way you could look like a whore, but if worn right your just a sultry diva. I swear if I was tall I would have a pair and would make your mouth drop wide open.

I'm Addicted.

I'm sorry, but I can't get enough of it. Mr. Louboutin really out did himself. These shoes are adorable. The Barbie that has these on puts every other Barbie to shame.

Barbie Meets Mr. Louboutin

Wait! I can't take all of this at once. First, I find out about the Spongebob & Karl Lagerfeld collaboration and instantly fall in love. Then today I stumble over another great collaboration and my heart skips a beat.

Barbie meets Louboutin! How insane is this? It's the best of both worlds. Christian Louboutin has designed a Barbie.Barbie is every girl's dream while Louboutin is every woman's. I am in complete awe.Her advertisement screams high fashion. Her shoes are amazing. It's nothing lacking.Well maybe one thing, there's no Louboutin Barbie of color, but I won't complain. I can't afford a pair of Louboutins so I guess the Barbie will be my answer. She's about $150 and can be found at Net-a-Porter.

Fashion Spotlight: Paul & Joe Spring 2010

I love this runway look. I might recreate it. This lovely outfit was on the runway for Paul & Joe's Spring 2010 collection. If you want to find a piece of Paul & Joe to add to your wardrobe check out Barneys New York or Net-a-Porter.

Have a Merry Christmas with MAC

Christmas is around the corner. I can't say I'm super excited because I will be spending my holiday in D.C.; however, I can't say that I haven't been looking at wonderful gifts that any girl would love. I can't put all the things I would enjoy receiving up at once, but I can definitely name a few.

I was in Macy's a week or so ago when I was in Philadelphia and I saw the most adorable gifts. I honestly couldn't see any girl being disappointed if she was given these gifts. MAC has little gift sets for the lucky glam girl in your life. There's nothing missing in my opinion. Whether she needs tools or eye pigments - it's all there. Everything's reasonably priced in my opinions. They have items from $12.00 to $65.00. I couldn't possibly see anyone being disappointed with these.

Rush off to MAC to go see all the holiday gifts & treat your glam girl.

"The Realization of Muah"

Well, as of lately I have decided to stop pressing things too much and just let go. I don't mean settle for less than what you deserve, but do what makes you happy. Don't worry about what your friends will have to say and what people will think of you.

So first and foremost, I'm no longer telling anyone that I'm leaving him alone because it's clear that I'm not.
Next, I'm not worrying about little details. I'm just going to do what makes me happy. I can deal with all that extra stuff later on in life.
Now, that's it. I'm happy with my life and I hope ya'll are happy with yours.

Spongebob Lagerfeld

If you know me, you know I have a thing for a certain Mr. Squarepants.
Yeah I love Spongebob. I watch the show and love the toys. It's my guilty pleasure and no one can tell me I'm too old for it.
Now, if you know me you also know that fashion is important to me. I study it with a hope of achieving a sense of greatness in the industry.
Soooo when I saw Mr. Spongebob dressed up as Karl Lagerfeld I instantly fell in love all over again.

The figurine was auctioned off at a WWF charity event in Paris. This was no small purchase either. It was auctioned off for 1000 euros.

"When I Think of You"

It seems as though as hard as I try to look at you like a monster I remember
The late night phone convos which occured every nite
The sweet little text messages that showed you care
The extra mile you went to make me smile
The meal you cooked for me
The charms you bought me for no reason at all
The things you said
The smile you put on my face
The plans we made
How your always there to listen
How when something goes wrong your still the first person I call
How much I really want you
How we still are good friends
How I can hate you this week & next week we are having sleep overs
How you tell me that its hard to let go because you still have feelings for me
How exactly I still feel for you
& How you made me happy & I did the same thing for you

Yeah I remember all these things, but I don't understand why I can't get in my head that things you did are memories & some of the things I want will never come to be.I know we will never be,yet I still find myself holding on to a piece of my dream.

We were so good and then out of nowhere you didn't want to lead me on because you weren't ready for the next step.Maybe I just didn't make you feel the way I thought I did.Maybe I'm not the girl for you.

These thoughts have ran through my head so many times, so why do I still feel for you?I should forget you and everything we had, but sometimes I find myself getting teary eyed because I'm missing you. The thing is I should hate you because I know all your dirt. I know things that you think I have no idea about, but through all of that I still have feelings for you.

&& I'm not unhappy right now. I don't want you to think you have that much control. I'm actually happy alone. It's just that sometimes I miss you and this is the thought process I have. It's real and I get a little emotional, but by the end of the post I'm over it, well until the next time I think about you.
